About this Ayrton Senna McLaren suit-1989
Some history
Grid 1 successfully procured the purchase of this suit in conjunction with a major International auction house from the original owner who purchased from the original suit manufacturer in 1993 and then the subsequent sale to a Monaco based Collector in July 2024-now in August 2026 it’s come back to the market.
This suit was supplied to McLaren in February 1989-see extract from the original letter of authenticity on company headed paper from the suit manufacturers-signed by the then Managing Director-the original letter of authenticity will be supplied to the buyer.
“I write as promised to confirm that the racesuit you purchased from AWS Ltd was produced in 1989 for the World Champion Driver Ayrton Senna.
This racesuit was in the posession of McLaren for over twelve months, and because we were unable to successfully contract Ayrton’s services, the race suit was returned to us.
The suit, as you can see, has been worn by Ayrton, and is a unique collectors item due to its construction.
